Founded in 1989, the NCGA Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit IRS 501(c) (3) charitable organization that provides deserving youth the opportunity to develop life skills and values through golf.
Youth development is the Foundation's focus, with golf serving as the vehicle to teach life skills and core values. The Youth on Course program, which partners with more than 115 facilities across the region, allows certified kids to play golf for as low as $2. The NCGA Foundation subsidized more than 100,000 rounds of golf and 100,000 buckets of range balls in Northern California with participation growing to 15,000 eligible junior participants last year. The Foundation's annual investment (program spending) was $1,037,000 in 2009.
The pioneering program was the first of its kind to make a connection between clinics for beginners and developing full-fledged golfers. The program has since been replicated by other golf organizations throughout the country.
The Foundation is now providing a full continuum for deserving youth that includes clinic series, life skills and health education, mentorships and scholarships. The ultimate goal is to help kids from underserved communities and get them on the path to college.
