PERSONAL NOTES

Runner-up in three-way playoff at 2009 Masters (Angel Cabrera was the winner). Had two-stroke lead going into the 71st hole, but bogeyed final two holes, then made a bogey on the second extra playoff hole.

Runner-up at the 1996 PGA Championship at Valhalla to Mark Brooks in a playoff.

Owns 14 PGA Tour victories, the last coming at the 2009 Travelers Championship. Seven of the 14 wins have come since 2005 season.

Made news in 2008 when he decided to skip the British Open to play at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee, saying his top goal for the year was making the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Perry achieved his goal of earning a spot on the team, which won the biennial competition at Valhalla G.C. in his home state of Kentucky.

Also played on the 2004 U.S. Ryder Cup team and on the 1996, 2003, 2005 and 2009 U.S. Presidents Cup teams

Member of the Western Kentucky and Kentucky Golf Halls of Fame.

Recipient of the 2002 Charles Bartlett Award, given annually by the Golf Writers Association of America to a professional golfer for his unselfish contributions to the betterment of society. Perry donates 5 percent of his winnings to Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., for scholarships of Simpson County students.

Took out a loan to build County Creek, a public golf course in his hometown of Franklin, Ky. He purchased 142 acres and borrowed more than $2.5 million to design and build the only public course in Franklin. Occasionally, Perry will work behind the counter at the course and is often asked, "Do you know Kenny Perry?"

Enjoys Harley Davidson motorcycles, drag racing and restoring Chevrolet muscle cars.
