Competing in first U.S. Open

Shot 69-66 at Springfield (Ohio) Country Club sectional

Caddie, Ron Levin, left in the middle of the second round to get to Memphis where he was carrying for Todd Hamilton; Compton then found a spectator to carry his bag for the remaining holes

Levin is expected to be Compton's caddie at Pebble Beach

Has had two heart transplants; diagnosed with first heart ailment at 9 and underwent a heart transplant at 12

Suffered a heart attack in October of 2007 and drove himself to the hospital. Underwent a second heart transplant in May of 2008

Competes on Nationwide and PGA tours

Has permission to use a golf cart in competition, but tries to avoid it

Competed in 1999 and 2001 U.S. Amateur

Advanced to the round of 16 at 2001 U.S. Amateur Public Links; reached round of 32 in 1999 and 2000 APLs
