Claimed first major championship when he beat Frenchman Gregory Havret by one stroke to claim the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach

Followed Open win by winning decisive match at 2010 Ryder Cup in Wales, then rallied to defeat Tiger Woods in a playoff at Target World Challenge.

Also won the 2008 Barclays Scottish Open.

Helped Great Britain and Ireland win the 2001 Walker Cup Match.

Turned pro in 2002 and won his first title in just his fourth start on the European Tour (Scandinavian Masters). Confirmed strong start to career by finishing sixth in Order of Merit in 2004.

Winner of the 2002 Fred Haskins Award given annually to the top U.S. collegian golfer. Won six events in the 2001-2002 season with a stroke average of 69.6, earning him first-team All-America honors.
